Chevrolet Silverado is a new variant that improves the off-road capabilities of a well-known pickup in the United States. General Motors introduced a new variant of the Chevrolet Silverado in that market. Called ZR2 Bison, it is an alternative oriented to off-road use, which also adds aesthetic details to enhance its exterior appearance.
This variant of the full-size pickup was developed in conjunction with the American Expedition Vehicles firm and aesthetically shares several features with a similar version of Colorado, its smaller sister. It should be remembered that a few weeks ago Colorado presented a new generation for the North American market that we already showed you on another occasion.
According to Chevy, the Silverado ZR2 Bison was intended to repeat the title of ” the ultimate offroad adventure truck .” In this way, it is an option that adopts new front and rear bumpers and also has different protections and reinforcements on the bodywork to improve off-road performance.
Beyond the improvements for off-roading, the Silverado Bison incorporates an exclusive grille design, with a body-color band on it, added to the presence of a kind of matte black decal on the cargo box lid. In turn, the body has a series of identifications that allude to this special variant.
Aesthetically, the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison is distinguished by its 18-inch alloy wheels designed by the AEV company, which adopt a gloss black finish and are fitted with Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires (a curious play on names) with a pattern prepared for any terrain.
With the body changes and enhancements mentioned, the Chevrolet Silverado improves on all off-road capabilities, with approach and departure angles increased to 32.5 and 23.4 degrees, respectively. For its part, everything indicates (there are no official figures) that the clearance remained at 284 mm.
As we are dealing with a ZR2 version, this special version incorporates a kit designed to fully exploit the capabilities of the bow’s full-size pick-up. Alongside the new ZR2 Bison, Chevrolet announced enhancements to the turbodiesel-powered Silverado. It is a six-cylinder in line with 3 liters of displacement that received a series of improvements such as new injectors and a revised turbine, which allow an increase in power.
Thus, the Chevrolet Silverado’s turbodiesel engine now produces 309 hp and a brutal 670 Nm of torque, which means an increase of 28 hp and 47 Nm compared to the previous model. The transmission will continue to be in charge of a ten-speed automatic transmission.
It should be noted that this driver is the one that had been announced back in January 2021 when the local subsidiary of General Motors flirted with the arrival of the Silverado in the Argentine market. The brand exhibited a unit of pick-up at its Cariló stand to calm anxieties, but finally, its arrival was delayed, among other things, due to the semiconductor crisis.
The Silverado ZR2 Bison is expected to start production in early 2023 with an MRSP of $78,490 with dealer freight charge included.
