In the next incarnation, Fabia switched to the MQB-A0 platform, that is, technically it became as close as possible to such Volkswagen products as the latest Polo (Euro version), Audi A1, and Seat Ibiza. The PQ chassis used for the previous three generations of Fabia (since 1999) has become history.

The length and width of the new Skoda are 4108 and 1780 mm, respectively, compare to its predecessor, in the first parameter, the car increase by 111 mm, and in the second – by 28 mm. The wheelbase has increased to 2564 mm, that is, an increase of 94 mm. Representatives of the Czech automaker say the Fabia is the most spacious and roomy car in the subcompact class. By the way, the volume of the trunk here is 380 liters, 50 more than it was.

Skoda Fabia Exterior

The hatchback design is based on the latest iteration of Skoda’s signature style, with intricate sidewall plastics, tapered LED headlights, and sharp edges, the Fabia is reminiscent of other new Skoda products, including the Scala, Kodiaq, and Enyaq iV. At the same time, the mutual proportions of body panels and windows, a massive C-pillar, a pronounced trunk volume, Fabia remained true to itself. The brand’s chief designer, Oliver Stephanie, says: “We have deliberately not changed the spirit of Fabia: this is a typical Skoda, a functional and practical companion for every day.”

The body has excellent streamlining – the drag coefficient Cx is only 0.28 units, the predecessor had 0.32. The record low for the Cx subcompact class reduces fuel consumption by 0.2 l / 100 km at a constant speed of 120 km / h, and carbon dioxide emissions by 5 g / 1 km.

The new body is a very high torsional rigidity, however, the exact figures are not disclose.

Compared to its predecessor, the interior decoration has become more emotional: the front panel has an intricate architecture, the side ventilation deflectors are made round and large in area, a volumetric decorative strip is mounted on the front panel, which logically continues in the deflectors.

Skoda Fabia Interior

For the first time, such luxury attributes as ambient interior lighting and dual-zone climate control appeared in the model’s configuration. The screen of the media system is made in the manner of a tablet and is install on top of the front panel. Among the functionality – Internet radio, downloading information about the traffic situation in real-time, distributing the Internet via wi-fi, synchronization with smartphones, control of functions by gestures, voice assistant.

The diagonal of the screen is 9 inches. In the simpler versions, an audio system with a 6.2 or 8.2-inch screen is installed. The instrument cluster in the basic configuration is traditional, analog, but in the top version, it is digital, with a diagonal of 10.25 inches. The IRS sports variant is not planned this time. Later, the range of the new Fabia should be replenished with the “station wagon” variant.
