The premium brand of Citroen introduces two new versions of the DS9 E-Tense in the range this year: prices starting from 65,757 usd.

2022 began in the sign of renewal for the beautiful DS9 E-Tense : the range of the French flagship was in fact the subject of a substantial expansion with two new versions developed in collaboration with the team that races in the Formula E World Championship, respectively called DS9 E-Tense 250 and DS9 E-Tense 4 × 4 360 . What do they have in common? A powertrain more devoted to sportiness and performance… without forgetting the maximum range, guaranteed by the battery pack combined with plug-in hybrid technology.

Features of DS9 E-Tense

Let’s start with the new top of the range, the DS9 E-Tense 4 × 4 360: its strong point is certainly the four-cylinder 1.6 PureTech petrol engine with 200 horsepower supported by two electric motors , positioned on both the front and rear axles which , for the occasion, they now also offer a wider track. The first, from 110 hp, is integrated into the gearbox, while the second (from 113 hp) is installed right on the rear axle: their operation ensures intelligent all-wheel drive , while the 11.9 kWh battery pack guarantees up to 52 km in full-electric mode according to the WLTP cycle of use.

The result obtained? Extremely low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (in the order of 1.8 liters per 100 km and 41 g / km) and certainly interesting performances, which allow the DS9 E-Tense 4 × 4 360 to reach the maximum speed (self-limited) of 250 km / h, to use the zero-emission driving mode up to 140 km / h and to stop the 0-100 chronometer in just 5.6 seconds.

Also thanks to the improvement of the braking system , which now uses four-piston calipers on 380 mm discs at the front and 290 mm at the rear, and the general optimization of the set-up, which now can count on new software for the management of the shock absorber springs and the anti-roll bar , on the DS Active Scan Suspension system (which electronically adjusts the suspension travel according to the asphalt) and on the specific 20-inch “Munich” alloy wheels.

PowerTrain

Alongside it, the 2022 range of the DS Automobiles brand also offers the new DS9 E-Tense 250 , which shares the 200 horsepower 1.6 PureTech with its predecessor, combining it with a single 110 HP electric motor for a total output of 250 HP . The battery, however, is larger than the “standard” ones and thanks to its 15.6 kWh it is able to ensure up to 61 km of travel with a single charge using the electric mode in the combined cycle WLTP (70 km if we consider only the urban one).

From the point of view of performance, however, the numbers are revised slightly downwards compared to the “sister” 4 × 4 360: in this configuration the new DS9 E-Tense 250 can reach a top speed of 240 km / h (reduced to 135 km / h if you use only battery power) and ends the 0-100 in just over 8 seconds, limiting at the same time consumption and emissions to record values of 1.1 liters per 100 km and 26 g / km of CO2.

Price List of DS9 E-Tense

A look at the prices? For the moment, the DS Automobiles brand has unveiled only the price list reserved for France, which includes the Performance Line + and Rivoli + versions for both models : in this way the DS9 E-Tense 250 starts at 65,757 and 69,020 usd respectively, while the DS9 E-Tense 4 × 4 360 from 76,500 and from 79,787 usd.
