New 2023 Volvo EX90 Full-Size Electric Crossover

2023 Volvo EX90

The all-new 2023 Volvo EX90, the full-size electric crossover, has been officially unveiled. Available in seven-seaters, the exterior design is more elegant than ever.

The overall length of the Volvo EX90 is 5.04 m, that is, it is 9 cm longer than the traditional equipped XC90 internal combustion engine. The electric crossover is designed to complement the range of Volvo, they do not intend to remove the XC90 from the assembly line. The new electric car was created from scratch on the Volvo-Geely SPA platform, this car has no common parts with the XC90. The width of the novelty, taking into account the exterior mirrors, is 2.11 m, the height is 1.74 m, and the wheelbase is 2.99 m.

The new 2023 Volvo EX90 are seven seats in the cabin, arranged in three rows according to the 2 + 3 + 2 scheme. Already in the basic configuration, the EX90 has two electric motors and an all-wheel drive. The total power in the standard version is 408 hp, torque is 770 Nm. From a standstill to 100 km / h, this car accelerates in 5.9 seconds. An even more powerful version is also provided – 517 hp. and 910 Nm and it’s given in 4.9 seconds.

In both cases, the maximum speed is limited to 180 km / h, and the motors are powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 111 kWh, which should be enough for a range of 590-600 km. From a station with a total of 250 kW, the battery pack can be recharged up to 80% in 30 minutes. The basic configuration of the crossover includes a semi-auto pilot system that works based on data from cameras, radar, and lidar. Their field of action is 360 degrees, and they “see” obstacles even in the dark.

The top of the Volvo brand’s SUV range will soon welcome a new model: it will be called the EX90 and will offer seven seats for the whole family, within a body with elegant lines and an all-electric powertrain under the hood. However, the Swedish company has released some teaser images, which show – among other things – how much attention has been paid to aerodynamics in order to obtain the maximum possible autonomy with a single “full” of energy.

The streamlined and rounded front section, combined with elements such as the windows and door handles flush with the bodywork, reduces drag to a minimum, guaranteeing a Cd of only 0.29 – one of the best in the segment for an SUV with seven seats. This optimization work, however, will not be to the detriment of the typical elegance of Volvo cars: the EX90 too, in fact, will offer the right equipment with a panoramic sunroof, large glass surfaces, high-quality upholstery and – on the technology side – an ADAS package with a pulsed remote sensing system (Lidar) capable of detecting people up to 250 meters.
