Kia has released design sketches for the second-generation Niro compact crossover. Kia Niro premiere will take place this week – November 25 at the auto show in Seoul.
On the exterior, the new Niro will largely inherit the look of the Habaniro concept , presented in April 2019: angular running lights, embossed hood, red rear roof pillars, boomerang-shaped lights, large rims. Kia says that the design of the production SUV is created in accordance with the philosophy of “Unity of opposites”, the artists of the brand were inspired by wildlife, for the preservation of which eco-friendly cars are created.
In the interior of the new generation Niro there will be a digital dashboard and a media system combined into a single cluster, on the central tunnel you can see the automatic transmission control washer. In general, the salon is made based on the EV6 electric car, presented in March this year .
The technical characteristics of the second generation Niro have not yet been disclosed, but they are unlikely to differ significantly from the current generation car. Now the SUV exists in three versions: fully electric, as well as two hybrid (with and without the possibility of recharging from an outlet).
In the first case, the car is driven by a 130- or 200-horsepower (depending on the version) front electric motor, in the rest – a traditional internal combustion engine of the Kappa 1.6 series with direct injection (105 hp), paired with a 44-horsepower electric motor. with. The total output of the system is 141 hp. The power reserve of the Niro in the rosette version reaches 42 km in the WLTP cycle.
