Kia launched a new local strategic model Kia Carens in India and entered the Indian family car market in earnest.
On the 16th, Kia unveiled the Carens, a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) developed as a model exclusively for the Indian market, through the Kia Carens world premiere video.
Exterior of Kia Carens
Carens is the name of the MPV model released by Kia in 1999 and is a combination of ‘Car’ and ‘Renaissance’.
From the early days of development of the Carens, Kia designed it as a 7-seater vehicle based on a long wheelbase in line with the characteristics of Indian family customers.
While the demand for the Indian automobile industry is recovering, the market competition is expected to intensify due to the expansion of the MPV lineup by competitors, and it is characterized by reflecting the characteristics of Indian customers centered on large families. In particular, it is expected that it will be able to actively respond to the mobility market in the Indian region with its versatile space utilization.
Capacity of Engine
Carens has expanded customer options by providing various powertrains such as a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 1.4-liter turbo engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and 6-speed automatic transmission (AT).
6-airbags, Electronic Posture Control (ESC), Integrated Chassis Control System (VSM, Vehicle Stability Management), Gradient Driving Assist (HAC), Gradient Low Speed Driving System (DBC), Kia Connect, Over-the-air Update (OTA), It has the best safety and convenience specifications in its class, such as a Bose 8 speaker system, a 10.25 inch navigation screen, and a seatback air purifier.
Based on Kia’s design philosophy of ‘Opposites United’, the exterior design has a bold character line and rich volume, reminiscent of an SUV despite being an MPV. Here, DRL designed based on Kia’s new lighting concept ‘The Star Map’ is harmonized with ‘Digital Tiger Face’ to further highlight Carens’ high-tech image.
Interior of Kia Carens
The interior design is based on ‘Joy for Reason’, one of Kia’s design philosophy, and focuses on ensuring that all passengers can comfortably enjoy the vehicle’s functions. The high-gloss black panel spread out on the dashboard harmoniously blends with the navigation screen, and the ergonomically designed center fascia provides a convenient user experience.
In particular, by harmonizing the materials, patterns and colors inspired by airplane seats evenly to all third-row seats, passenger comfort was maximized. In addition, the second-row one-touch electric double folding function helps passengers get in and out of the third row easily, and the third row seats can be folded to maximize cargo space.
In addition to this, Kia Carens has achieved optimal practicality by providing ample storage space such as a pop-up cup holder/tray in the first row, a cooling can holder in the second row, a folding table with a second row (cup holder included), and a door pocket.
