The BMW 8 Series flagship keeps the range of engines unchanged, but presents some innovations as regards the bodywork, the choice of materials for the interiors and the technology and driver assistance packages.
Luxury and sporty spirit come together perfectly in the BMW 8 Series. This model, launched by the Bavarian house in 2018, gets a makeover to emphasize the characteristics that made it unique.
BMW 8 Series: the news on the way
BMW 8 Series was developed in three versions, Coupe, Gran Coupe and Cabriolet and all received some tweaks. The first can be seen by looking at the anti-bee part, where the kidney grille is now equipped with the Iconic Glow system with LED lighting that turn on when the car is unlocked, creating a very special effect.
All standard models are equipped with the M Sport package which includes a body embellished with aerodynamic appendages, side skirts, lower air intakes and 19 ”two-spoke alloy wheels. As for the engines, ranging from the 6-cylinder in-line 3.0 petrol 333 hp with rear or all-wheel drive, up to the 4.4 V8 biturbo with 625 hp and 750 Nm of torque, combined with all-wheel drive, passing through the 530 hp 4.4 V8 fitted on the M850i.
The 8X Jeff Koons version has a multi-layered finish in eleven colors that creates an even more expressive look, along with the premium leather interior and bright red and blue tones of BMW M GmbH with the artist’s signature engraved. In 2010 he designed the BMW M3 GT2 Art Car which took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This new project was born to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BMW Group’s global commitment to culture. This limited edition is produced at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing.
Climbing aboard, you can appreciate the improvements to the technology package : the BMW Live Cockpit Professional is standard with touch display which from 10.25 ″ to 12.3 ″ . The infotainment system includes all BMW online and navigation services, the Intelligent Personal Assistant and the WLAN connection.
Safety systems including front collision warning, lane change warning and lane departure warning have also been improved, as well as the traffic sign recognition function with no-overtaking indicator.
