The historic MG brand is ready to return to the world of high-performance supercars MG Cyberster and will do so very soon with the production version derived from the Cyberster prototype.
We saw it at the last Shanghai Motor Show 2021 and after almost a year the MG brand has confirmed: by 2024 the Cyberster concept , which anticipates the style, technology and mechanics of a high-performance super sports car in a two-seater “roadster” format , will be produced in series and will be ready for its international commercialization.
After passing into the hands of the Chinese group SAIC and having mainly converted its production into the SUV and crossover segment, MG wants to resume the road of supercars and will do so with a first production model, derived precisely from the Cyberster, which will power the brand new “Cyber” family – acronym that encompasses the five principles of the British brand: co-creating, young, beyond, evolution and recreation.
Features of MG Cyberster
According to the latest information collected by Autocar magazine , the production version of the MG Cyberster will maintain its appearance as a two-seater roadster with a full-electric powertrain , consisting of a single engine positioned on the rear axle with technology derived from the ZS EV SUV. The estimated performances are in the order of 3 seconds to complete the 0-100 km / h shot, while the autonomy would reach the remarkable 800 km bar with a single “fill” of energy.
Price of MG Cyberster
From a price point of view, MG’s idea for the production MG Cyberster is to position its car in the range of 34-57,000 usd, in order to annoy its direct opponents who respond to the names of Mazda MX-5 and Toyota GR86. Its expected arrival on the market? Not before 2024 , when, among other things, the British brand will celebrate 100 years since its foundation.
