After the Sortimo project that involved the Mercedes EQV , now the world of motorhomes welcomes another company willing to invest in electrically powered engines : the idea comes from the United States, where the Winnebago bodybuilder has realized a prototype of a “recreational vehicle” called the e-RV Concept capable of satisfying, in its standard version, most of the customers’ needs, since it is equipped with a powertrain with a range of 125 miles (about 200 km).

The starting point of Winnebago e-RV Concept is the well-known Ford Transit , obviously modified with a battery unit (with a total capacity of 86 kWh rechargeable through the ultra-fast columns in 45 minutes) developed by Lightning eMotors. However, it is not only the engine that is “zero emissions”: the interior layout was also chosen with an eye to energy consumption , as well as the walkable materials and the walls of the various compartments.

The induction hob and the refrigerator , in fact, are powered by 110 Volt AC current, while the air conditioner and water heater operate in DC up to 350V: the floor is also made of recycled cork and the acoustic insulation is guaranteed by materials derived from wool. With these assumptions, the Winnebago e-RV Concept project has all the credentials to have a successful future: now all that remains is to wait for the production model.
