New Yamaha XSR125 – 125cc

The Sport Heritage range is being expand, giving a new target group access to the Faster Sons world. Premium manufacturing quality and reliability – these are the words Yamaha use to describe the new XSR125.

The 125cc motorcycle is aim at younger riders entering this class, but also at users of the B196 driver’s license.

Light, agile and fun

The upright seating position, the smooth chassis and the easy handling should suit novice riders . And immediately convey the “cheerful nature” of the Sport Heritage bike to them. The available color schemes Redline, Tech Black and Impact Yellow is inspire by models from “bygone days”. 

In combination with the rounded tank, the flat seat and the round headlight, the Faster Sons DNA should also be underlined. Despite a certain retro look, modern technologies s , for example LED lighting and an LCD cockpit are found all around.

Engine and power

The liquid-cool 125cc single-cylinder four-valve engine is already known from the MT-125 or R125. It has an output of 11kW or 15 HP and thus offers the maximum permissible according to the European A1 driving license category.

Thanks to the variable valve control, the engine offers sufficient torque in the lower speed range, but also enough power at high speeds.

Chassis and tires

The frame is a deltabox design with a double spar. That runs in a straight line from the steering head to the pivot point. As a result, the chassis should be particularly robust, but also light.

The front is dampene by an upside-down fork with a 37mm diameter. The surface has been refined with a black finish, which is suppose to fit seamlessly into the timeless look.

The block profile of the tires is also intend to emphasize the look of the motorcycle. The tire dimensions are 110/70 17 inches at the front and 140/70 17 inches at the rear. The wheelbase is 1,330 mm and the seat height is 810 mm.

Availability and accessories

In Europe, the Yamaha CSR125 will be at dealerships from June 2021. Various original accessories or even complete kits are optionally available. Including a Racer Kit, Urban Kit, a Cafe Racer fairing or an Akrapovic silencer.
