A New generation of the Suzuki Alto K10. Suzuki launched India the new generation of Alto K10. The budget compact sits above the Alto 800 and below the Wagon R, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, and Baleno in that particular order.
Note that this is a different model from the Japanese-spec Alto, despite sharing the same name. For some time Derco, Suzuki’s representative in Colombia, stopped importing this model and the Celerio. It remains to be seen if the merger with Inchcape gives way to these compacts returning to the country starting next year.
The third generation of the K10 measures 3.53 meters long, 1.49 meters wide, and 1.52 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.38 meters. This makes it 8.5 cm longer than the Alto 800 and 16.5 cm shorter than the Celerio.
Visually, the model adopts a more modern appearance, with smoother lines and curves than its predecessor. The front end is characterized by a large honeycomb grille and halogen headlights that look similar but less aggressive than the Hyundai i10. The profile has cleaner lines than before and 13-inch wheels. Out back, Suzuki played it safe with boxy taillights and a sculpted rear bumper, mirroring the front end. The Suzuki Alto K10 is offered in six colors and two optional accessory packages.
The interior is modernized, although the budget nature is still evident in the hard plastics. The seven-inch infotainment touchscreen has been updated with navigation and many connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel comes from the Celerio, the instrument panel has a digital speedometer, and the audio system has four speakers. The cabin seems spacious for the size of the vehicle, with five seat belts, though the limited width makes it more suitable for up to four adults. On the other hand, the safety kit is pretty basic, with dual airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, and automatic door locks.
The Alto K10 is now built on the Heartect architecture that underpins most Suzuki models, making it safer and more technologically advanced than its predecessor. Under the hood is the latest version of the 1.0-liter K-Series petrol engine that produces 66 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle via a five-speed manual or AGS automatic gearbox.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is now available to order in India. Pricing starts at US$5,000 (21 million Colombian pesos) for the basic specs manual and can go as high as US7,320 ($30 million) for the most advanced version.
