Ducati has unveiled another novelty coming in 2022: it is the Panigale V4 which represents a further step on the path made by the Borgo Panigale sports cars , in which the Ducati Corse experience , in MotoGP and Superbike , is applied to the motorcycles. standard.
Ducati Panigale V4: the characteristics
Ducati Panigale V4 , in the 2022 version, has been improved in every respect . The first novelty concerns the fairing, which has been revisited by the Ducati engineers from an aerodynamic point of view. In this version the bike integrates new, more compact and thin wings with a double profile design and increased efficiency, which guarantee the same vertical load, up to 37 kg at 300 km / h.
The ergonomics of the bike have been modified in order to improve control in the most important phases of track driving and to allow the rider to make the most of the Ducati Panigale V4’s performance both on a single lap and during a prolonged session.
The saddle now has a flatter shape and a different coating, to reduce the rider’s tendency to advance when braking and allow him to move more easily of the body. Compared to the 2021 version, the tank has a new shape at the rear (the so-called fit) to allow the rider to better anchor in braking, engaging his arms less and allowing him to drive faster and longer.
The heart of the bike is the 1,103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale of MotoGP derivation ; with a lot of torque right from low revs and able to unleash the racing soul of the bike on the circuit. The Desmosedici Stradale completes a further evolution for 2022, thanks to the introduction of some dedicated technical elements that allow you to increase power and improve throttle response.
Capacity of Engine
The new engine has been updated in the lubrication circuit and is coupled to a new oil pump which absorbs less power. The Desmosedici Stradale in the Euro 5 version produces a power of 215.5 HPat 13,000 rpm and a torque of 123.6 Nm at 9,500 rpm. One of the most important innovations introduced on the 2022 engine is the adoption of a new gearbox that provides for a lengthening of the ratio for the first, second and sixth gears, as in the V4 R which races the World Superbike.
Ducati Panigale V4 has four engine configurations: Full, High, Medium, Low . The Power Mode Full is the sportiest, while the Power Mode Low has been designed to make driving on the road to the maximum, limiting the maximum power of the bike to 150 HP and offering a particularly manageable throttle response. The Desmosedici Stradale is directly connected to the aluminum Front Frame. The chassis is completed by the lightweight front subframe made of magnesium and the seat post made of cast aluminum in a shell.
On the S version of the 2022 model there is a new Ohlins NPX25 / 30 pressurized fork with event-based electronic control that uses a damping system with pressurized cartridge derived from that of the Ohlins racing forks, minimizing the risk of cavitation of the hydraulic fluid compared to to a traditional system. The result is better braking support and at the same time better absorption of bumps, which translates into a greater driving feeling for the driver. The new fork has 125 mm travel (+5 mm compared to that fitted to the Panigale V4 2021), thanks to which not only can it adopt softer settings.
The Panigale V4 S features 3-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels and mountsPirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires in 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/60 ZR 17 rear sizes . As for the braking system, the bike mounts Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers at the front with four 30 mm diameter pistons , which work on 330 mm diameter discs, guaranteeing exceptional braking power.
At the rear we find a single 245 mm disc with 2-piston caliper. The Panigale V4 ’22 is equipped with a latest generation electronic package based on the use of a 6-axis inertial platform capable of instantly detecting the roll, yaw and pitch angles of the motorcycle in space. The electronic package includes controls that manage all the riding phases, whose operating parameters are connected by default to the 4 Riding Modes (Race A, Race B, Sport, Street). These parameters can be viewed on the new dashboard, which differs in a new distribution of the functions of the lights outside the screen.
