The new Opel Astra 2022 has been with us for a few months: we officially presented it to you last July in the “hatchback” version and now it’s time to unveil the one for large families, called (as per tradition) Sports Tourer is characterized by more generous dimensions and more space on board for passengers and luggage.
Interior and Exterior of Opel Astra
Based on the well-proven EMP2 platform (the same as the Peugeot 308), the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer 2022 puts on the plate a length of 4.64 meters (60 mm less than the previous generation), a width of 1.86, a ‘height of 1.48 and a wheelbase of 2.73 meters, which is 70 millimeters longer when compared to that of the five-door. Technical data sheet in hand, these values drop slightly if the plug-in hybrid engine present in the price list is taken into consideration , due to the presence of the battery pack under the floor: entering specifically, the capacity varies from 548 to 1,574 liters but not it affects the presence of a loading height of 60 cm with respect to the ground and the electric opening / closing tailgate. The mobile shelf “Intelli-Space” with double height adjustable by hand and inclination to 45 degrees, on the other hand, is an exclusive of the petrol and diesel endothermic versions, while the anti-puncture kit is now placed in an easily accessible compartment behind the seats rear.
Capabilty of Engine
We talked about the engine range and in fact the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer will attack the market from the early months of 2022 in three different engines: starting from the PureTech 1.2 liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 110 and 131 horsepower to continue with the turbo- only. 131 HP 1.5-liter diesel , combined with the traditional six-speed manual gearbox or the optional eight-speed automatic (only for the more powerful versions). The icing on the cake, as anticipated, however, is the plug-in hybrid technology , consisting of a powertrain with 1.6 turbo-petrol declined in the two versions of 180 and 225 hp overall with front-wheel drive.
As regards aesthetics, however, the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer 2022 confirms what has already been seen on the “hatchback” model with a front in which the latest stylistic canons chosen by the House of Lightning are placed, with the Opel Vizor combined with the ‘ Opel Blitz in the center of the front and adaptive LED headlights with Intelli-Lux technology. It is the rear, however, that makes the difference on the German station wagon, which prepares the ground for a rear end with a practically vertical overhang through a black roof in contrast with the bodywork parallel to the floor and equipped with finish-carrying bars. chromed.
Inside the passenger compartment the similarity with the five-door is even more evident: the Pure Panel dashboard is substantially the same and offers a double 10-inch touchscreen in ultra-wide format through which to view not only the useful data of the digital cockpit , but also the main functions of the infotainment system. More traditional is the air conditioning with physical controls, which completes a package which also includes the head-up display (on request) and the front seats with AGR certification: if you opt for Nappa leather upholstery, they offer ventilation and massage functions for the driver together with heating for both rows of passengers.
